KEEP YOUR HANDS WARM
WARM AND COMFORTABLE GLOVES
Cold and wet hands will make you feel pretty miserable, affect your concentration, and will take all the fun out of skiing. Be extremely careful when selecting a pair of gloves. Avoid fingers being too long, or being too tight, or bulky gloves so packed full of insulation that you can’t grip the poles properly. Gloves should fit you like a glove (duh !), be warm, breathable, waterproof, durable, and allow dexterity.
Personally, year after year I have been using 3 types depending on the weather.
-> SWANY XCELL II These gloves are really soft and comfortable, and the warmest I have found to keep my hands and fingers toasty on the coldest days.
-> HESTRA MORRISON PRO A great every day glove, made of supple leather, which is more durable and more breathable, and offers a good grip.
-> RACER MTK2 MITTENS When the weather gets really bad (think Siberian cold temperatures), well for me there’s nothing like a good mitt to keep your fingers warm and toasty. I like the Racer MTK2 for its goose down insulation, the internal finger slots for improved dexterity, soft and supple durable leather, and goretex waterproof and windproof membrane.
