Welcome to SkiTheWorldWithNathalie ! My name is Nathalie Ouédraogo. I didn’t grow up skiing – being born in Africa ! – but I caught the bug when I moved to Canada after finishing university. So much so that 10 years later, I decided to resign, quit my job and do the leap of faith: become a full-time ski instructor. If Africans can learn how to ski (let alone teach skiing !)… well, there is hope for you ! 🙂
Since then I have been chasing the snow year round from the Northern hemisphere to the Southern hemisphere, with two winter seasons and more than 250 days on snow every year, to pursue my passion for snowsports. And for people. Because it’s all about people in the end. I am a people person, and I have learned early on that in every face-to-face encounter, regardless of how brief, we leave something behind. Life has also taught me that people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
After 28 seasons spent teaching skiing, snowboarding, telemark skiing, disabled skiers, as well as training instructors, I am more than ever driven by my passion and the pleasure of sharing it with snow enthusiasts alike. The world is an enriching classroom, and I have found out that everyone has something to teach if you are open and willing to reach out.
My motto is simple:
2 Teach is 2 Touch lives 4 Ever.
I firmly believe that teaching comes with a great responsibility: because we have the ability to influence and impact people’s lives, to be a good teacher you need to not only believe in your students, no matter who they are, where they come from, and what’s their ability level, but you also need to give them value, by setting a proper environment conducive to learning and creating situations where they will achieve success. Because you haven’t taught until they have learned. This has always been my goal and my purpose, and why I’m so enthusiastic and passionate about what I do.
I hope I will give you the desire to come and ski with me, either in a lesson, or by joining one of my ski trips.
